The ambience is vibrant, everyone already feels rich and happy, money is in the air. Finally the MC comes to stage and announces Mr. Wealth Millionaire and the show starts. Power Point presentation shows images of remote tropical islands, Ferraris and downtown offices. Beautiful people wearing flashy suits and Rolexes, and chilling out in hotel bars. You like what you see, youre envisioning your future... Another 30 minutes later, the speaker has already started to show how to calculate all the return on your invested dollars. Stocks, bonds property, positive gearing, negative gearing, and hedging, you name it. And in the last 30 minutes he starts to plug his product: "Ladies and gentleman this 3 hour presentation obviously was not enough to cover all the aspects of these lucrative investment opportunities. So, I would like to invite you to our 5 Day seminar to a remote island resort. (photos on the projector) During the 5 days you will learn everything you need to know to be a successful (and listen carefully know) stock investor, property investor, real estate developer, and we will also teach you how teach others to be successful too. Wow! In 5 days, this is amazing! And then he goes on:" When you enroll in to this 5 Day event you will also get the chance to invest into one of the best blue chip developments in this country. We have already handpicked and secured them for you. You will meet the masterminds of the industry and you can pick their brains for 5 full days, you can ask them whatever you want and they will answer all your questions. We will also give you the opportunity to come to work with us to further enhance your knowledge and become financially free. And it only costs you $50.000 for the weekend The next minute you find yourself in a queue and 10 minutes later you are signing a contract and a check for 50K. You feel like you are on the top of the world. For only 50K you have purchased the right to be rich and get there quickly. You go home happily and announce the news to the family. And they're speechless& they cant believe what you have just done. Spent 50K on a seminar& You start to explain it& they sort of believe you& 2 weeks later you go to the seminar&5 full days& from 7 in the morning till 9 at night&everyday. You never get the chance to go down to the beach of the island resort, or to talk to the gurus or as a matter of fact to anyone& You fly back home and the next day you phone their office.. Theyre not so friendly now somehow&.they say theyre busy, theyll call you back&and this is going to go on for months.. You have the knowledge, the 10 huge manuals for 50K& but that's all. The promised investment opportunity does not want to turn up. Your confidence has gone too& During the days I have worked as a marketing consultant for different real estate companies in Sydney, Australia I had the chance to visit lots investment and wealth related seminars. I have visited about a dozen. Fortunately in most of the cases never had to pay for these events, my clients sort of organized the free admission. In almost every case I had the same feeling: the people who have paid for the long 2-3-4-5 days seminars and forked out $5000-$50000 had been ripped off blind. You will never be able to learn about the property and stock investment industry enough just in 5 days to become a confident investor, then go out to the market and make wise decisions. It's just not going to work that way. There was only one person who held a 2 day seminar which covered 5 different topics, including taxation, property investment, offshore investment, asset protection, which are the crucial elements when you want to invest your hard earned dollars. This coach only charged $1500 which according to my opinion was a fair fee. I do recommend to really shop around before you would commit yourself to any of these wealth creation gurus. Check their reputation, talk to their clients, compare their prices, do a company search, call the local chamber of commerce, visit their offices, and finally make sure that your dollar goes to the right person. But most importantly, make sure that they are licensed to give financial, investment and taxation advice legally. I would rather buy less expensive tapes, books, videos first and then just pay these coaches by the hour if needed. Most of them have inner-circle-mastermind-groups held in their offices on a monthly basis. You pay a couple of hundred dollars a month and youll get the same information or even more what you would have gotten visiting their 5 day event. Believe me, it will well worth it. I saw an adult man in our offices crying for help to recoup his loss of 50K.
