THE "X-FACTOR" - WHAT ARE THE SECRETS OF THE 'SUPER-ACHIEVERS' OF THIS WORLD (PART ONE)?

"You will become as small as your controlling desire, or as great as your dominant aspiration."

- James Allen

"All our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them."

- Walt Disney

From my studies and research into this fascinating subject (at least I think so), the following are the attributes or common elements in the superachievers of this world.

Super-achievers have:

* an overriding, singular purpose in life, ie. a major life mission. It's a "bit of an obsession".

* Their most important values are in line with their life mission and their grand vision.

* tenacity and discipline = PURPOSE

Viktor Frankl: "He who has a "why" can live for almost any "how".

* a grand vision

* an overall sense of direction. Doing this takes commitment, enthusiasm and great effort...and usually great sacrifices ("no pain, no gain").

* have a life goal bigger than oneself, a "real BIG one", which "fires one's soul". My work "fires my soul", inspires me and gives me meaning to life. It's a deep stirring within oneself - follow the dream of your heart and the intended purpose of your soul. We must look deep within the recesses of our soul to find out why we have been made. Ask yourself this vital question:

"What gets me excited, angry, what do I dream about?"

What are my unique gifts, that I can share with the world?

If I know it was impossible to fail, what would I attempt?

Super-achievers have:

* Great faith - because faith gives one the inner strength to overcome any obstacles. Faith gives one courage to persist.. day after day, month after month and year after years, even when you are not seeing the anticipated results of your efforts. In short, Super-Achievers have huge faith in humanity and in life.

* Super Achievers are highly optomistic people - their view of life is that things are going to somehow work out their way, no matter how dire their situation. This perspective pervades every part of their being.

They are imbued with OPTIMISM = having a positive outlook on life, maintaining a sense of humour (most esential, as we travel down the 'rapids of life') and developing long-term hope. Achieving people generally have the ability to look beyond the immediate and search for the positive in life, no matter what happens to them - having a positive attitude of gratitude.

They see life through rose-coloured spectacles.

* They have huge FOCUS - which produces clarity and energy in one's efforts.

* Many of them use the technique of VISUALISATION: visualising a successful outcome to their endeavours, through the amazing power of the human imagination. They can SEE things in advance - the way they WISH events to turn out for them...exactly. Then they take action, one step at a time ...and things just seem to work out for them!

...and some 'ordinary' people say they we "just lucky"!

"Every great man has become great, every succesful man has succeeded, in proportion as he has confined his powers to one particular channel."*

- Orison Swett Marsden, founder of "Success" Magazine.

(PART TWO to follow)

* Hope I've chosen the right path then...

otherwise I'm "totally stuffed".

Author's Note:

As well as my own studies and research in this fascinating field, this article is largely based upon an excellent book I read recently, SECRETS OF SUPERACHIEVERS by PHILIP BAKER, an Australian living in Perth. I hope it may inspire you as much, as it did me!
