Courage to Be Yourself

By Bal Simon, ©2002

Have you ever gotten on board with a program and the person who

sponsored you, or someone in your upline, or even corporate tries

to hammer you into fitting the mold? Have you watched other

people doing it and wondered what's the matter with you?

Especially if they're making money and you're not?

Maybe it's reasonable for you to berate yourself. But before you

do it, give this some thought.

Are your goals really the same as those of others in the

organization, or are your goals, perhaps, a little different? Is

there something about the business you are in that doesn't quite

make sense or doesn't seem as quite ethical as you'd like?

Are you experimenting - to find your own way - even if it means

that until you do, you won't be generating the dollars that you

want?

Think about this, too. Thomas Alva Edison did not invent the

light bulb by getting on board with someone else's program. Rosa

Parks didn't help make things right with a herd mentality. Albert

Einstein didn't invent/discover the Laws of Relativity by

conforming to someone else's ideals. And Madame Curie didn't

discover radium by wondering what was wrong with her.

Whatever genius there is that may reside inside you, it must have

the freedom to live in inner torment, to wrestle with and to

experience the joy of big ideas, to explore in ways not yet paved

with asphalt.

I am not suggesting that you put common sense on hold. Nor am I

suggesting that you stay off of paved roads to success... if

that's where you want to be.

But life is far too short - even if you are immortal - to let

others tell you how to live your life. Advice is great. Modeling

successful people has a place. But LIFE is too precious, and can

be so interesting if you have a desire and can find the courage

to listen to the inner oracle that calls upon you to do great, or

at least bigger, things.

Strive for success, but don't live someone else's dreams. Define

that success in your own terms. For that, my friend, is where the

juice of life is!
