DESIRE AND DISCIPLINE: TWIN SISTERS OF SUCCESS!

ŠLee Wise 2002

Desire says, "I want to."

Discipline says, "I will do what I need to do

until it gets done."

These are twin sisters of success.

DESIRE

The "key word" related to desire is *sustain.*

Sustained desire is the fuel that keeps me

pursuing my goals and reaching toward my dreams.

I sustain my desire by ...

1. Reviewing my *reasons* for doing what

I want to do.

2. Reconnecting with my original vision.

3. Using creativity in the accomplishment of my

daily tasks in order to keep myself fresh!

DISCIPLINE

The "key word" related to discipline is "decision."

I decide to act.

Again and again I act in the right way. I do what

needs to be done --

At the right time

In the right way

*No matter how I feel.*

I reinforce the "discipline habit" by ...

1. Creatively setting up my own

accountability structures.

2. Celebrating my victories.

3. Keeping my "defeats" in perspective.

IT'S SO EASY!

Oh, and it is *so* easy to write about this

stuff. So easy.

But hard to put into practice!

True confession: the untamed kitten of my past

that has become a lion in my life is

*self-discipline.*

Why say that?

Because I want the "real factor" to be a part

of these thoughts. I'm not a drone. I don't

have a set of component parts inserted inside

of me to insure success in this discipline.

I struggle. But I try. I keep working at

taming that lion!

SAVE THE SISTERS!

That's right ... save the sisters! Don't

allow the pressures of life to diminish or

even destroy your desire to accomplish that

wonderful dream of yours.

Rekindle the flame!

Likewise, don't give up on building the habit

of self-discipline.

Keep trying! It is worth the struggle!
