Motivation is critical. Without motivation persistence is nearly impossible to achieve, and persistence is the most important factor in your success. Without persistence, you cannot work hour after endless hour to complete your tasks. This is so important in your quest for success.

What motivates you? Think about it. What gets your juices flowing! What type of work could you do endlessly and enjoy. You need to know this. If not you'll become miserable or quit.

Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't matter if you have the best job in the world, it just gets hard to push yourself. I noticed one thing that really did the trick for me--wearing a suit. I know it's hard to believe in this day and age, but yes, wearing a full blown power suit really got me motivated to work, and work hard. Now I almost always wear my suit at work. It's especially helpful when I have tasks I'm not too fond of, like account collections. My suit really gets me going. Before I know it I'm done with my procrastination tasks and on to the fun stuff. I love my suit--it makes me feel so secure and confident. I know I'm working better and smarter and I feel so darn good!

Some might think the type of suit is important, I say, "Hey, whatever floats your boat." For me the issue was economics. I'm running a tight ship here, every penny counts. You're probably wondering why a successful person like myself would need to buy a suit, don't you have one in your closet? I did, but with the everyday is casual Friday mentality, I realized I could get rid of my suits. Also, at my new job I had a boss who sat a few quick paces away from me and a suit was no longer needed for motivation. So I donated my corporate wardrobe to the Salvation Army.

I considered my options on where to purchase my suit. It dawned on me that if price was the major factor I could go back to the thrift store. If I donated a few suits, others must be doing the same and they should have a nice selection of gently worn corporate garb. I was so excited to go, I wanted to get that suit and get to work. As I guessed, the selection was impressive. But on scrutinizing the price tags I noticed the prices weren't much less than Burlington Coat Factory and that stuff is new! I guess these suits are considered collectible. Someone must have seen one go for big bucks on eBay.

I felt the excitement seep out my pores, but I soldiered on. I scoured the racks for reasonably priced, or miss priced corporate battle gear. As I got to the far corner of the store I noticed the prices dwindling--I perked up a bit. Then I cast my eyes upon the most reasonably priced suit in the store--$11.98. I thought it's a bit steep, but I'll write it off as an office supply expense. I tried it on and it fit, the sleeves were a bit short, but that's okay I thought to myself, they won't get in the way when I'm typing.

As I admired myself in the mirror, I felt the surge of corporate power come over me. I was ready to take on the world. And you know, I really liked the color of the suit as well, kind of a medium beige--it matched the carpet in my apartment. Also, as I checked the pockets, you know sometimes they sew them shut, I thought how convenient it was that it had four pockets on the front--good for storing pens, floppy disks and snacks. But something kept faintly tugging at my brain, I tried to pinpoint the cause--had I forgot an important phone call or errand? No that wasn't the cause. I kept admiring myself in the mirror and it hit me like a bolt of lightning--I was wearing a leisure suit! I felt a little embarrassed. But reassured myself that no one saw me taking the garment into the fitting room. I do like vintage clothes and I do feel really motivated, what the heck I'll get it, I'm only going to be working at home.

As you can see it doesn't really matter what motivates you, the most important thing is to spend the time to determine what it is. So yes, if you're wondering, I am wearing my medium beige colored leisure suit with the four patch pockets on the front, and loving it because I'm motivated and working smarter.
