Defend Your Domain
http://www.defendyourdomain.info

Protect your PayPal from Hackers! If you have a membership site or sell ebooks online by direct download then you could be losing hundreds of dollars worth of sales.

When you put up a PayPal link there is a return tag in it that displays the URL that you will be taken to after the payment is approved. All one has to do is view your page source and copy and paste that URL into their browsers address box, hit enter and boom, they are at your products page or in your members area and free to steal your content. The same thing is true for those Let 'em Know scripts that send a surfer to a page of goodies once they enter in the email addresses of their friends. All they have to do is view source and copy the url of the return_url tag and boom, they are in. So why would you let them do that to you? It's up to you to protect yourself. This information is not meant as an invitation to go ripping off your fellow marketers but to protect yourself from being ripped off. Pass this information out to your friends as it is important to get the word out.

One way to view the source code of a HTML document is to right click and select view source. First of all we will disable right click so that the source code can't be seen. Put the following javascript in between the HEAD tags on your HTML document that you are going to protect.

See Java 1 at http://www.defendyourdomain.info/java.htm

Ok so now your page is protected from right clicks but the source can still be viewed under the view tab in the menu bar. What we will do now is add a little java script to the HTML document that you use to link to your pay page. In other words, this is not the page that you just added the java script too (page 1) but this next bit of code is placed on (page 2) the page that has your PayPal form on it. Again put this code in the HEAD tags.

See Java 2 at http://www.defendyourdomain.info/java.htm

Then you place this next bit of java script anywhere on your page where you want your link to be (page 1). All you have to do is replace the URL with your own.

See Java 3 at http://www.defendyourdomain.info/java.htm

What this does is disables the right click and the view source from the view menu. Now as you can see this information will protect your products, services, images and your search engine rankings for your sub pages. I have personally placed high in the search engines only to find that someone has copied my source code improved on it and took my high spot forcing me down lower on the rankings. You should protect every page on your site from thieves. This little trick is ok for sub pages but won't disable the right click and the view source from the view menu on your main page. What we suggest is that you use encryption to hide the key works on your main page. This however will not hide your meta tags unless you use the highest form of encryption but that would disable the search engine bots from reading your page. Unfortunately, your Meta tags will still show. Fortunately, there is much more to getting a high ranking in the search engines then just your Met tags and that gold information will be hidden.
