Linking For Net Profits

(c) Kristy Taylor 2003

A few years ago it was standard practice to link to other sites on the

Net, though these days it seems to have gone out of style. Why?

Probably because of the time and effort involved with setting up your

links. There were literally hundreds, if not thousands of sites that

would allow you to add your link, far to many too really bother

with. Plus the dreaded thought of receiving all that junk mail

generated by the sp*ambots. So most of us have not bothered

with exchanging links for a very long time. And the repercussions

of that are...?

Well, just look at sites like 'Yahoo'. Did they ever stop linking to

sites? Deerrr... NO! Not only is it the prime source of their Net

business, it is also the prime source of their gigantic popularity.

They have that many sites linking back to them that they will

always be at the top of search results. Their network is

mammoth - something that we should all strive for with our

own sites.

It may sound like a huge task but if we pre-qualify our link

partners first, make sure that their site compliments ours,

then our incoming traffic from their sites will be precisely

targeted.

Though some time and effort is needed to get your site well

'linked too', the rewards are great. Not only is it fr*ee to link

and get 'linked', but you also get to know a lot of other Net

businesses and their owners. It's a great way to start

networking - making yourself known in the Net world,

making a name for yourself.

Search engines usually rank sites by popularity of links

leaving and entering the site. The more sites linking to yours

with similar content - the better. Plus you'll also have an

instant database of resources for your own use and also

for your customers, already highly targeted because you

picked them out yourself.

An extra benefit is that your latest 'link partner' will be

adding your site to their list a hell of a lot sooner then the

big search engines will (they can take months), so you can

quickly start a good steady flow of qualified traffic to your

site.

Take some time today and visit a site that accepts links,

see how little is really involved and start linking for Net

profits!
