TIME “CAN” EQUAL EXTRA INCOME

By Rozey Gean

Do you find yourself wishing you had more money coming into your household? Well, you’re not alone. Almost every middle-class American desires to have more money coming into the household and with this desire, comes the thought of an extra income-producing project. The problem is, not many people seem to be able to fit a “second job” into their time schedule.

It goes without saying that most people are busy. I know that I am, but I COULD find the extra time I needed and I know you could too. It may mean you will have to give up watching the golf channel or passing up the opportunity to take in a movie with friends but if your new venture scores boo-coo bucks, you will have all the time you want later for doing whatever you want!

PLAN YOUR WORK...WORK YOUR PLAN

Grab a pencil and paper and sit down somewhere quiet and itemize your existing schedule. List everything you do on a daily basis (step-by-step) starting from the moment you jump out of bed. I’m certain you’ll find that you DO have a few hours within your time schedule that could be utilized in a more efficient and productive manner. Yes...you’ll probably have to opt out of that movie or stop watching a few hours of television during the week, but it will be worth it in the long run.

TIME MANAGEMENT

Utilizing your time in the best possible way boils down to planning what you intend to do and then sticking to the plan! If making a list for a full week is too unbearable for you to develop, then create your plan for one-day-at-a-time. The idea here is to create a plan that you will be able to follow without any problems whatsoever.

1. OUTSIDE THE HOME

You can easily cut down on the amount of time it takes for you to run errands outside the home. Schedule your trips to the store to coincide with the time you pick up the medicine at the pharmacy. If your current Food Store does not have an ATM machine available, then find one that does. You could also make your bank deposits in one convenient trip!

2. LEARN TO SAY GOODBYE

Take notice of the time you spend just “shooting the breeze” especially while you’re on the telephone. Keep your calls to a minimum and eliminate all the extra minutes wasted. If you normally chit-chat at the store counter, learn to pay for your things with a smile and be on your merry way. Every wasted minute eventually adds up to an hour.

3. AROUND THE HOME

Whatever chores you need to take care of within your home, set aside a specific time to do them and then devote this special time to complete them. If you want to do the time-consuming chores like mowing the lawn or weeding the garden, break it down into one-hour intervals per day. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish on a daily basis.

(a.) READ YOUR MAIL AND FILE IT

Instead of checking your mail and throwing it into a pile to sift through later, open it immediately. Throw the garbage mail into the trash right away and file the rest. If you receive bills that aren’t yet due, file them inside a readily accessible folder, date it for payment, and set it aside.

ORGANIZING YOUR PRIORITIES

The most important thing to remember is that “your time is your most valuable asset” and as such, you should organize it as best as you can. Decide what NEEDS to be done and what you would like to do. Decide what the best possible arrangement is to tackle each task and then go...go...go!

Once you plan your work and work your plan, you’ll find that extra time for handling virtually any kind of home based income-producing project. I realize most of us don’t like the idea of being kept on a schedule, but in this important case, organization IS YOUR KEY TO SUCCESS!

It’s all a matter of becoming more efficient in your daily activities. Keep a watchful eye on the time you waste each day and then reorganize your schedule to stay on track. You’ll find it becomes easier and easier to accomplish as you gain financial contentment in your life.
