I use PaintShopPro to reduce the size of images, but you can use a free service like Netmechanic http://www.netmechanic.com . Another trick is using a "TABLE" structure with a color background to help load your site fast. On my desktop I always have these two browsers. Also, make sure your HEADLINE is the first thing your visitors see. It should tell them about your benefits by using power words and psychological triggers.
